You CAN do this!

Hey lovelies! In today's society teenagers are faced with a lot more than they're credited for. These years are potentially the hardest you'll ever go through, whether your 13 or even 19, whose to ever say when you'll feel the hardships that teens all over the world go through. First off qualifications are HARD. Whether that be GCSE's, A-levels, SATs, college degrees or whatever else your putting your time and energy into...it's difficult. Why is it now that we have to decide what we want to be? Why is it a 90 minute exam that determines our future? Why are the teenagers dragged down when in a few years we'll be the ones in charge? Rant aside, we have enormous pressure throughout these years without the added other pressures, the major being self-esteem. These are the years body image have a major part to play in how you act and present yourself. The following statements are taken from www.DoSomething.Org. Did you know that:

  • 38% of boys in middle school and high school reported using protein supplements and nearly 6% admitted to experimenting with steroids.
  • 7 in 10 girls believe that they are not good enough or don’t measure up in some way, including their looks, performance in school and relationships with friends and family members.
  • Among high school students, 44% of girls and 15% of guys are attempting to lose weight.
  • Over 70% of girls aged 15 to 17 void normal daily activities, such as attending school, when they feel bad about their looks.
  • More than 40% of boys in middle school and high school regularly exercise with the goal of increasing muscle mass.
  • About 20% of teens will experience depression before they reach adulthood.
  • 38% of boys in middle school and high school reported using protein supplements and nearly 6% admitted to experimenting with steroids.
  • 7 in 10 girls believe that they are not good enough or don’t measure up in some way, including their looks, performance in school and relationships with friends and family members.

  • Most teenagers, if not all suffer from these in some way. And although its the hardest thing to possibly do, positivity is key. And to get the brute of this post, where I myself know how it feels to not be the happiest 24/7- it's actually one of the things I find the hardest, here are 10 mentalities I think will help:
    1. Wake up, look in the mirror and just love yourself, a simple "i love you". It might not make a difference but keep doing it, one day you'll start to believe it.
    2. Sit back take time for yourself, read that book you've always wanted to, you'll enjoy it more than you think
    3. Spend a whole day without your phone, without the internet. Completely cut yourself off, you'll appreciate the finer things.
    4. Go for a walk, take your dog or just with your music. Enjoy nature or just the fresh air, your mind will be clearer.
    5. Buy that cute clothing item in the store, forget other people, if YOU like it YOU enjoy it.
    6. Do whatever makes you happy. If you want to dance, dance until you fall over. If you want to sing, you sing those high notes. If you want to uni-cycle to school, you uni-cycle to school.
    7. Take chances, life is way to short to worry about the "what if's?", ask the cute girl to go our for a meal, accept the cute boys offer, start a conversation off first, try something new, dye your hair, there are millions of possibilities.
    8. Revise for the next test you have, you'll feel so much more positive about your day with a positive mark and a qualification out of it.
    9. Take time out of your day to reflect, talk to your parents, eat a meal together, discuss your day. You'll feel refreshed.
    10. Remember; you can do this! Every day of being a teenager is a little hurdle we take to our future, it's possible and we'll cross the finish line one-by-one and all together.
And there they are. My top 10 things to do for a positive mindset, let me know if you have anything you specifically do to get you through the week in a positive manner in the comments below or if you have anything to add to the list to make it even more positive.
And lastly sorry for not having a post last week guys, revision is currently over taking my spare time but I promise next week another post will be up!
    Thanks for reading Lovelies!
